Knowing Muammar al-Gaddafi’s Children More Closely

Muammar al-Gaddafi is known having a big family. He has ten children (seven sons, a daughter and two adopted children) from two marriages. Muammar al-Gaddafi’s children have very important roles ranging from controlling of the state until increasing the wealth of the family.

Muammar al-Gaddafi was first married to the Fatiha, a teacher. Their marriage only lasted six months, but they have a son named Muhammad al-Gaddafi. Muhammad now is the head of the Libyan Olympic Committee. For business, he is the master of the General Post and Telecom Company. This is a great company that controls Libya’s mobile phone operators and satellite communications.

Gaddafi’s second wife is Safia Farkash. From Safia, Muammar al-Gaddafi has six children. The oldest child is Saif al Islam al-Gaddafi (38). He got a PhD title from the London School of Economic and is very good in English.

Saif Gaddafi is busy in International Charity and Development Foundation, a charity which contributed to free prisoners of the Islamic militant group in southern Philippines. He had left his family in 2006 because criticizing his father. But in 2008 he returned, although confirming that he was not interest to continue his father’s leadership. When Libya is getting hot right now, he appeared on TV and asked the people to be quiet.

Well, the third child of Muammar al-Gaddafi is Saadi Gaddafi (36). He ever played in the Serie A Italian League as a professional player at the Sampdoria club. But his football career is short. Saadi then was married to the daughter of the military leadership and managed the Libyan Football Federation. Saadi is now doing business in the film industry by investing U.S. $ 100 million.

And someone who might becomes the successor of Muammar al-Gaddafi is the fourth child, Muttassim Gaddafi. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Libyan Army. Muttassim had fled to Egypt because he wanted to do a coup to his father. However, Gaddafi forgave him. Muttassim now becomes the Libyan National Security Adviser and enters the National Security Council. As the son of Muammar al-Gaddafi, Muttassim also can have his own army.

Hannibal Gaddafi is the fifth son of Gaddafi and perhaps the most ornery. He had ever worked in the General National Maritime Transport Company, Libya’s oil exports. But Hannibal is better known in Europe because several legal violations, ranging from reckless driving with his luxury Porsche in Paris until beating up people. Hannibal is also known as the king of the party who often invites artists from the United States.

The sixth son of Muammar al-Gaddafi is Saif-al-Arab Gaddafi, who rarely becomes the media spotlight. He is still studying in Munich, Germany. However, Saif also lives in luxury.

Khamis Gaddafi is the seventh son of Libyan leader. He is a police officer and has trained Special Forces in Russia. Khamis is judged responsible for the violence against the demonstrators in Benghazi.

The only daughter of Gaddafi is Ayesha al-Gaddafi (34). This beautiful woman is a lawyer. He had been a defense team of former Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein.

Muammar al-Gaddafi still has two adopted children, Hanna and Milad Abuztaia al Gaddafi. Hanna was killed when U.S. bombed the residence of Muammar al-Gaddafi in 1986. Meanwhile, Milad survived and rescued Muammar al-Gaddafi in the incident.
